A Natural Wax for Sealing Mushroom Logs

Prefer a natural wax for your mushroom log project? Beeswax is an excellent option for sealing inoculation holes after inserting plug or sawdust spawn.

After inoculating your logs, brush melted beeswax over each hole to help seal in moisture and protect the spawn while the mycelium begins colonizing the wood.

Our beeswax comes in convenient pellets, making it easy to measure, melt, and apply.

🍄 Why Seal Mushroom Logs?

After inserting mushroom spawn into freshly drilled holes, sealing them with wax helps:

  • Prevent the spawn from drying out
  • Reduce moisture loss from the inoculation holes
  • Create a physical barrier against insects
  • Protect the spawn while mycelium grows into the surrounding wood

It's a small step that can make a big difference during log establishment.

🐝 Why Choose Beeswax?

Beeswax is a great choice for growers who prefer a natural alternative to soy wax or paraffin.

The pellet form melts easily and works well for brushing over inoculation holes.

🔥 How to Use

  1. Inoculate your freshly cut logs with plug or sawdust spawn.
  2. Gently melt the beeswax.
  3. Brush or dab melted wax over each inoculation hole.
  4. Allow the wax to cool and harden.
  5. Move your logs to their shaded incubation location.

You only need enough wax to completely cover each hole.

🕯️ And Yes... You Can Make Candles
